Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United America. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. As of February 2020, she had signed 53 deals for the show, the largest one being $350,000 to purchase 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied on the free delivery of food from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who sometimes was a drinker and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school and later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was fluent in several courses during her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
